Fiscal Year 2026 - The Awakening

November 27, 2025

You may as well call me the human Lorax. During the course of man's short existence on this third pebble from the sun, we have had several awakenings. There was the Renaissance and the Industrial Era to just name a couple. We need this awakening now, more than ever before, in our time on this planet. We are facing a possible mass extinction event in our future. The sheer number of casualties from the impending steps toward a total Ice Age, again, will be catastrophic, to say the least. I hope more than anything that the planet will flourish, that the green forests will be filled with wildlife, and man can coexist with nature, upon a planet that is at peace.

The reason I am hoping for a green planet that is at peace is because man has taken a huge step backwards in scientific achievement. I was actually banned from making comment on an article on MSN about man being able to nuke the sun. While I tried my best to make a comment that a six year old could understand, apparently there were quite a number of people that are just plain stupid. Now, normally, I like using textbooks. Especially the older textbooks prior to 1981, when Reagan took office. Although in all actuality, the reduction in our education system began with the Nixon presidency (1969-74). It was during the rise of the hippies (just a few years before my adult time). I have read multiple textbooks and theses on numerous subjects from that time frame. For this case, however, I will just use standard information found on the internet.

Let us start with the sheer size of the big ball of plasma we call our sun. So you type in your search bar, “How much larger is the sun than the earth?” and you get the following:

The Sun is approximately 109 times larger in diameter than Earth and has a mass that is about 330,000 times greater. To put it into perspective, about 1,300,000 Earths can fit inside the Sun. Additionally, the Sun's volume is roughly 1.3 million times greater than that of Earth.

Now that we have established that, we can move on a bit with our search. “How strong is a solar flare?” This is the first result:

Solar flares are categorized based on their intensity, similar to the Richter scale for earthquakes. The classification includes:

1. A-class: The weakest flares, too weak to affect Earth.
2. B-class: Slightly stronger but still minimal impact.
3. C-class: Weak flares that generally do not cause noticeable effects on Earth.
4. M-class: Moderate flares that can cause brief radio blackouts at the poles and minor radiation storms.
5. X-class: The strongest flares, which can cause significant disruptions to radio communications and power grids.

Each class represents a ten-fold increase in energy output. For example, an X-class flare is ten times more powerful than an M-class flare and a hundred times more powerful than a C-class flare.

Well, not quite what I was looking for, but still very useful information. Let's redefine our search. “How powerful is a solar flare in megatons?” The results are as follows:

A solar flare is classified as an X5.1-class eruption, which is the strongest of 2025. Such a flare releases energy equivalent to 5 million megatons of TNT. Solar flares are ranked by strength in five classes: A, B, C, M, and X, with each step representing a tenfold increase in energy output, making X-class flares the most powerful category.

Now that is more like it. Now let's take a look at the size of the nuclear round that landed on Hiroshima. So, we do another search. “What size was the atomic bomb that was used on Hiroshima?” We get the following from Wikipedia:

Little Boy was a type of atomic bomb created by the Manhattan Project during World War II. The name is also often used to describe the specific bomb used in the bombing of the Japanese city of Hiroshima on 6 August 1945, making it the first nuclear weapon used in warfare, and the second nuclear explosion in history, after the Trinity nuclear test. It exploded with an energy of approximately 15 kilotons of TNT and had an explosion radius of approximately 1.3 kilometers (0.81 mi) which caused widespread death across the city.

Now we are getting somewhere. Next search, we find out about the difference between Megatons and Kilotons explained. Here is that result:

Megatons and kilotons are both units of measure used to describe explosive yield or energy.

-One megaton (Mt) is equivalent to 1,000 kilotons (kt), indicating that megatons represent a much larger amount of energy.

-In terms of energy, 1 kiloton is equal to 4.184 terajoules, while 1 megaton is equal to 4.184 petajoules.

-Megatons are often used to describe the energy released in large nuclear explosions, while kilotons are used for smaller yields. This distinction is crucial in contexts such as nuclear energy and weaponry.

A big difference, by anyone's standard. To speed this up, the Tsar Bomb made by Russia is only 50 Megatons of TNT, which is a lot of zeros away from a 5 billion ton solar flare. You see, our planet exists because we are NOT near the sun. A solar flare would slap this planet we call Earth into a speck of ash. Let alone the amount of fusion it would take to create 5 billion megatons. Our sun is a “FUSION REACTOR!” The temperature of the sun varies from the core which reaches 27 million degrees Fahrenheit (15 million degrees Celsius), and the surface is approximately 10,000 degrees Fahrenheit (5,500 degrees Celsius). Mankind hasn't even made a probe that could withstand those direct temperatures produced by the sun, let alone a missile or bomb. Things would blow up well before reaching the intended target. You have to be the most narcissistic megalomaniac on the planet if you can think you can nuke the sun and actually do anything. That, or a six year old child. I am really hoping that the article was written by A.I., because I don't want to think that our scientific leaders think like a 6 year old.

It is like the scientists who think squirrels don't eat meat. They are rodents! They must have never raised hamsters or gerbils. They will eat their own young to survive within the environment in which they live. If the food source feeds three young and mama, she keeps three, and the runts are lunch. Nature is cruel. They are rodents, not cartoon animals, like on Disney's Snow White that sing at your window. Science has really gone downhill!

So says the Hai Druid.
